February Painting Resolution and new Blood Bowl models

Been a busy week trying to get my last five Slugga Boyz done before the end of the month and the new Blood Bowl league starting up.

Painting Resolution
I have completed my February Painting resolution and here are the last five boyz. This brings up the total number of Slugga Boyz painted to 15.

For March's Painting Resolution, I will paint 10 Ork Nobs with a Painboy and a Grot Orderly. If I get that done, I am going to try to paint a trukk to go with them.

Blood Bowl
Also this week, I made two Black Orc Blockers for my Orc Blood Bowl team.

I converted models from the plastic Black Orc boxed set. It was not particularly hard. Mostly all I did was cut all their weapons off, but I think they look good. They have inspired me to try and convert a whole new orc team using WHF models.

Although I know I do not need a coach model, I wanted to have one and I found one that I like. It is the Orc Bully from the Orc Stonethrower kit.

The whip is perfect IMO. I have been debating if I should do some green work on him look more Blood Bowl-ish, although I am not even sure what that means. If you have any suggestions or ideas, please feel free to leave comments.

New Forgeworld Orky Goodness

I opened up my email this afternoon and found some new Orky goodness from Forgeworld. These are sweet!

Blood Bowl League - Week 1

Last night was the first week for the Blood Bowl League and there was a very good turnout. At least 10 players showed up and there may even be more from what I was told. We have two divisions and I am in Division I.

I played my first game and lost. My first opponent played Norse, what I am told is one of the toughest teams in 6th Edtion. I have to agree with this. His team had both a Snow Troll and a Werewolf. Although I was able to knock the troll down a couple times, I failed to injure it. One of my Black Orc Blockers did manage to injure the werewolf in the second half.

It did not help that one of my throwers failed the roll to pick up the ball and failed his Sure Hands re-roll not once, not twice, but three times! Furthermore, four times my Black Orc Blockers went to throw key blocks and rolled double skulls, thus knocking themselves down.

Despite everything that happened, it was a really fun game and I am looking forward to next week. I will have to remember to take my camera so I can post some pictures.

Final Score
Marga's Mashas (0-1-0):0
Norse (1-0-0):3

Blood Bowl League

I found out over the weekend that there will be a Blood Bowl League starting up this week at my LGS (tomorrow to be more specific) and I have decided to play in it with my Orc team. This is my first Blood Bowl League, I have only ever played a handful of Blood Bowl games and that was almost a decade ago (or whenever the last boxed set came out).

I really wish I had heard about this league sooner so that I had more time to prepare for it. I have already downloaded the current rulebook and I am quickly reading through it. As for my Orc team, all I have for it is just the plastic models that came with the box set (2 throwers, 2 Blitzers, 2 Black Orc blockers, and 6 linemen). That may be enough for the league, but if not I may need to order some more players from my LGS (including some of the cool, albeit nasty, Orc cheerleaders).

In addition to the plastic Orc and Human teams that came with the boxed set, I have also acquired a Chaos team and a High Elf team from former players I knew, but I will not be using them for this league.

I am still here

Been sick this past week, again. With one kid in first grade and the other in Preschool, it seems I am catching every cold they bring home with them this winter and I end up sick for a week. I am ready for spring time.

Anyway, I have been plugging away on painting my slugga boyz and I am on track to have all ten painted by the end of the month, although I was hoping to get more done. But it is not a good thing to be in my cold basement painting when sick.

I picked up a copy of Imperial Armour Apocalypse II from my LGS Tuesday night and have been reading my way through it. So far, I like what I see, especially the ork and Nurgle daemon stuff. But more on that later.

Dark Angels Rising...

I took a break from painting my orks this weekend. For some reason I have had the strong urge to play some space marines, so I took some time this weekend to build a few new toys for my Dark Angel Army.

First, a Deathwing Sergeant with Thunder Hammer and Stormshield...

and a Deathwing Land Raider Crusader.

and a Vindicator and Whirlwind.

40kFC 2010 Painting Resolution Challange - February

It is the first day of February, which means I can start on the rest of my Slugga Boyz which are my Troop selection for the Painting Resolution Challange. I need to paint 10 boyz at a minimum to fulfill the requirements for the contest, but I am hoping to get all 25 done. This includes a Nob and three big shootas. He are the minimum models I will get done.
