Mamon, Herald, and Nurglings...Oh My!

It's been a great week for getting painting done. So far I have got three projects finished, with a couple more that are close to being finished. First up, the Daemon Prince Mamon and Herald of Nurgle.

I have to say, I love the Mamon model. It is just chocked full of great little details. The Nurglings bathing in the barrel on his back are my favorite. The model is also a lot larger than I originally thought, as seen in comparison to this Chaos Space Marine. If a CSM is seven feet tall, Mamon must stand around 18' tall and has legs the size of tree trunks. I cannot wait to get Mamon on the battlefield.

Also finished are my seven Nurgling bases. It is hard to say if I will ever use these little guys, but my army would not feel complete without them.

Finally, and although not finished yet, here is my planned Chaos Space Marine color scheme. This is not my best paint job ever mainly because I was painting and re-painting it to get the color scheme I wanted. Anyway, what do you think?

Slip, they are friggin awesome, how did you do the rotting flesh on Mamon?

Thanks DaveHowitzer! I really like they way they turned out.

The Rotting flesh is my standard flesh painting for my Nurgle daemons. Start with a black primed model and base coat it with Bubonic Brown. When dry, wash with thinned down Green Wash. When thoroughly dry, overbrush with Bubonic Brown. When dry, wash with thinned down Red Wash. Finally, when thoroughly dry, lightly overbrush with more Bubonic Brown followed by a light overbrush of Rotting Flesh.

It is really simple and quick to paint, and turns out really well.

That's quite insane how quickly you got those done. They're beautifully ugly, too.

Thanks Loquacious! I wanted to get him done so I can field him, which was a great motivator.

Luuuurve that Mammon and Herald, you have got a really cool effective technique for painting him - looks the nutz!

I like the scheme on the CSM, but I think its missing something... Maybe because its a test mini, probably just needs a badge or another colour or something?

I really like the paint on those FW minis, not so sure about the sculpt on the herald, never have been. This is the first time I've been able to get a good look at he back of it. It brings to mind the thought of a renegade IG enginseer...

The CSM looks good, but maybe just needs a contrasting color to brighten it up? That's some thing I had to do to liven up my Dark Hands SMs as Catachan green with black trim was kind of dull on their own.

Thanks Mart and MasterCheef!

I am not sure about the Herald either. For the life of me I do not understand why they gave it what looks to be a power fist. I needed a Herald anyway, so I will use him and count the fist as Noxious Touch.

As for the CSM, I really dig the look of the Catachan Green with silver trim, but I agree it needs more color. I am just not sure where to put it at this time.
