First Slugga Boyz - Part 2

Since I am experimenting with Devlan Mud for the first time, I decided to finish one boy first as a test model instead of doing them all. Although I still need to paint his base, I think he turned out good.

I like the way the yellow armor turned out. I started by painting it with Iyanden Darksun, then with Golden Yellow. Then I washed it with Devlan Mud. After the wash dried, I overbrushed the armor with more Golden Yellow, then drybrushed with Sunburst Yellow. This highlights the edges nicely.

The chips in the armor were painted first with Dark Flesh. Next, I painted Chainmail on the Dark Flesh areas making sure to leave some Dark Flesh visible around the edges. This technique will come in handy when I start painting my vehicles.

The purple stripe on the helmet identifies which unit he belongs to.

Off to finish the other four boyz.

Aha! That's a good way to tell the mobs apart, I hadn't ever thought of that (kinda gives them a vaguely football-ish look as well). There's a bunch of boyz without helmets though, are you just gonna make them a mob unto themselves?

No, I plan to mix in boyz without helmets. Some will have the squig hair painted to match the unit. I am not sure what to do with the ones without helmets or hair yet. One thought I had was to paint matching markings on their weapons. There is also face paint. I will figure something out, eventually.

I don't know if I would paint the hair plumes different for eac unit. I would just use markings on the guns or maybe belts, knee pads, smaller areas, etc.

I would disagree, Rhellion. I have almost finished up two with the hair painted to match unit and I think it looks good. I just need to finish the bases and I will post pics.
